I awoke this a.m. early, with more back pain then usual. I put on the nerve stimulator, and after about a half hour, I got back to sleep for another hour. When I got up again, the pain was across the low back, and still worse than usual. Over the next few hours, I realized that the pain was almost all on one side. After a while, we both realized that it is a kidney stone. After 2 pills, no better, we headed off to the e.r. Got there and got in line to register. By 90 minutes after the pills, the pain left over a span of about 10 minutes. Saved our money and went home.
On and off during the day, the pain returned and I took more pain meds. Now I am having symptoms of a stone in my bladder, burning and urgency, some blood in my urine. Soooo, I think I have actually passed the stone. I really hope so.
Pictures from the county fair.
4 hours without pain pills. I think that I must have passed the stone.
We are expecting Rick and Julie tomorrow for a short visit.
we went to the Rivers Cinema to see RISE. It is an historic documentary about US Olympic Figure Skating. It was well done and focused on the tragic airline crash in 1961 which killed our entire skating team and all their famous coaches. The U.S. had to regroup and RISE (ie start all over) with the help of a foundation set up to help fund the new skating team. Money from this film will go to the foundation and will help our future athletes.
This event was a simulcast of the opening night, live from New York. Scott Hamilton, Brian Boitano, Peggy Fleming, Michelle Kwan and Dorothy Hamil were Storytellers. Also all 13 of the US gold medalist figure skaters were in attendance. Go see this inspiring film if you have a chance and are interested in this sport.
